Circia 1850-1860. A very early example with the “AMES MFG. CO” faintly engraved on the blade in script. Beautiful original condition with the helmet pommel and guard retaining considerable original gold finish. The eteched blade retains it’s excellent bright polish and the etched panels are very crisp. The brass scabbard is marked “AMES” and is excellent with little evidence of use. The ivory grips is very nice with the common stress crack on each side. One of the very nicest early examples I have encountered.
