.50 caliber, 28″ barrel secured by two bands.  The barrel inspected on the left side by  the breech ” P/H.B.R.”   and anchor on the top.   The right side of the receiver marked  ” USN/SPRINGFIELD/1870″.  The buttstock stamped with  “12” near the right side of the butt.  Appears to be a commercial sale with the bayonet lug removed and the receiver blued.  A repair is evident on the right side of the buttstock next to the uppertang.  Very nice bright bore.
