.45 caliber, 30″ full octagonal barrel. Casehardened falling block action and lock, and double set triggers. Plain uncheckered forend and straight grip buttstock ending with a checkered steel buttplate. Sights consist of a modern globe front and Soule rear tang sight. Lawrence barrel sight appears to be original. In very fine condition with the barrel showing much of the finish a good legend, an older professional refinish. The receiver having mottled case colors mixing with a gray patina. Nice wood and varnish with various minor handling marks and slight damage to the right side of the forend at the barrel channel and at the head of the stock on the left side. Excellent bright bore and rifling. Mechanically excellent. The factory letter indicates that the rifle was invoiced July 11, 1878 and shipped to “h. Folsom & Co, St. Louis, Mo. The rifle weighed 11 lbs, 3 oz.
