.45-70 caliber, 32 5/8″ barrel,  folding tangent elevation adjustable rear sight.   Trapdoor action with casehardened low arch breechblock dated “1873”.  Full length walnut stock bearing the U..S. inspector’s cartouche  “SWP” and dated “1883”.  In very fine original condition retaining considerable blue mixing with patina.  The breechblock having subdued case colors.  Nice wood with good cartouche and various handling marks from use.   Excellent bright bore with sharp rifling.  Serial range 247xxx.
